What a week it was. My foundation classes for all first years are Life Drawing Plus Object and Image. This class was a wonderful new experience where we went for a walk and discussed about 5 sculptures with a concentration on context. Then back to the classroom to make something with cardboard and a few supplies. Had a moments panic but somehow I managed a collage which I continued to develop further at home. I investigated the name and shape if the sculpture "withholding " and made a 3 dimensional structure exploring withholding love. A mirror in the bottom allows the viewer to reflect about themselves with this theme. So much fun.
Life drawing was intense and full in with a
Lot of poses and a tutor with infectious energy and skill which helped enorously. He swears a lot thank god for not being PC very refreshing.
Finding inspiration in everything from travel, nature and even a shopping catalogues, I am exploring many art mediums. I have always used the "right side" of my brain but lack formal training so I explore ideas and listen to tutorials on the net. I work at anything but a zen approach determined to create and explore at breakneck speed. I am burdened with a 1000 ideas and am happiest when exploring the creative medium of the day.

First week at ANU School of Art -Visual Arts Degree
Over the next 3 years I will post my progress during my first time at university at the age if 57. The first week was called "O" week or orientation where I attends lectures on topics such as easy writing and general introduction course. I had a great time on Market day looking at all the clubs and signed up to a few.

Pin weaving- the perfect business card holder
Spent a very hot afternoon using scraps of wool to weave up a design for my business cards. The first one shrunk more than expected but the second one was perfect. I think you need to allow mor than 10 % shrinkage as the project gets bigger. I also changed the weft to a crochet cotton and this stopped the wool from getting stuck when combing it up for a tighter weaver.

Weaving Boot Camp
A few images of an intense week, with temperature over 40 degrees and no air conditioning. Shame on ANU for not providing appropriate working conditions for students.

2014 Sketchbook project - A few pages
For a birthday, a few years ago I asked people to bring me the gift of a word. One they liked rather than one that described me. It was fun and this was a great chance to use the words with many sample piece I have had in the cupboard. Great way to showcase both. Thanks to everyone for helping to make this sketchbook.
